A Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union
The European Institute for Security and Justice (EISJ) at the University of Dundee is dedicated to the multi- and inter-disciplinary study of security and justice in Europe. Its staff members’ expertise spans politics, international relations, law, geography, sociology, history, modern languages, philosophy, education, psychology, social work, economics, computing, engineering, physics, ecology, public health, medicine, anatomy and forensic anthropology.
Launched in June 2014, the EISJ was designated a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence by the European Commission in September 2014. A Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence is a focal point of competence and knowledge on European Union subjects.
The University of Dundee was awarded €100,000.00 by the European Commission to support various research, teaching and public engagement activities scheduled to take place in 2014-2017. It was the only university in the UK to receive such an accolade in 2014. This splendid achievement testifies to the University of Dundee’s strength of expertise in the study of the European Union.
